Mrs. Jegarasasingam's journey through the realms of public service commenced in 1972 when she donned the mantle of a young cadet in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, embarking on a journey that would shape her illustrious career. Her initial steps saw her as a District Land Officer in Mannar District in 1973, where she laid the foundations of her expertise and commitment to public service. As the chapters unfolded, she ascended through the ranks, showcasing her versatility and leadership prowess. In 1993, Mrs. Jegarasasingam assumed the pivotal role of Secretary to the Western Provincial Ministry of Housing, Roads, and Transport, a testament to her ability to navigate the intricate intersections of governance. The narrative continued to evolve as she took on the mantle of Secretary to the Ministry of Social Welfare in 2001, contributing her acumen to the social fabric of the nation. The canvas of her career expanded further as she put on the title of Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy in 2004, where her strategic vision powered the nation's energy landscape. In 2005, she undertook the responsibilities of Secretary to the Ministry of Social Services and Social Welfare, further solidifying her impact on the welfare of the community. A pivotal role as an Adviser to the Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development in 2010 showcased Mrs. Jegarasasingam's enduring commitment to fostering growth and development in diverse sectors. Currently, she stands as a distinguished member of the Governing Council of SLIDA, contributing her wealth of experience and insights to the next generation of leaders in administrative excellence. Academically adorned, Mrs. Jegarasasingam holds a Bachelor of Education with an Upper Second Class from the University of Ceylon, a Master's in Development Studies specializing in Agro & Rural Development from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands, and a Diploma in Psychology from the Institute of Psychological Studies, Sri Lanka. Her intellectual pursuits mirror the depth and breadth of her contributions to the nation's progress, painting a portrait of a leader whose impact spans generations.
