Mrs. Pearl Weerasinghe's journey unfolds as a narrative rich with diverse roles and groundbreaking achievements. Originating as a Teacher at Our Lady of Victories Convent Moratuwa, she pivoted towards the dynamic landscape of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 1984, marking the commencement of an extraordinary career. Her foray into the SLAS began in 1985 as the Assistant Commissioner of Labour, where much of her professional journey unfolded within the dynamic corridors of the labor department. A testament to her dedication and competence, she ascended to the role of Commissioner General of Labour in 2010, etching her name in history as the first lady to hold this position in Sri Lanka. Beyond national borders, Mrs. Pearl Weerasinghe served as Minister Counsellor at the Sri Lanka Embassy of the UAE, Abu Dhabi, showcasing her diplomatic acumen on the global stage. Her administrative prowess continued to shine as she assumed various Secretary Positions from 2014 to 2017, leaving an indelible mark on each ministry she served. These included the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine, the State Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Dialogue, and the State Ministry of City Planning & Water Supply. Her contributions were characterized by a dynamic and forward-thinking approach. Retiring in 2017 did not mark the end of her impactful career. Mrs. Pearl Weerasinghe transitioned seamlessly into the role of Consultant to the ILO Project on Country-Level Engagement and Assistance/Cooperation to Reduce Child Labour, contributing to crucial initiatives on an international scale. Her commitment to public service continued with her roles as the Secretary to the Presidential Commission on Political Victimization and the Executive Director of the Office on Missing Persons in 2021. Since 2022, she has been a facilitator at an ILO project, focusing on the introduction of Social Dialogue and Workplace Cooperation Mechanism to the Public Sector, showcasing her dedication to progressive workplace practices. Academically distinguished, Mrs. Pearl Weerasinghe holds a Master's in Public Management from SLIDA, a testament to her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
